Family Planning Advisory Committee
The Family Planning Advisory Committee consists of five to nine members of the eight-county health district. Committee members represent the population of South Central Public Health District's service area. The committee convenes three to four times each year.
Title X of the Public Health Service Act of 1970 requires that grantees (such as SCPHD) provide all informational and educational materials developed under the project to a committee for review and approval prior to distribution. This ensures that the materials are suitable for the population or community to whom they are to be made available, and that materials meet the set purposes of Title X. Materials are not disseminated which are not approved by the Advisory Committee.
The committee considers: cultural backgrounds of individuals for whom the materials are intended; standards of the population or community to be served with respect to such materials; material content to ensure that information is accurate and suitable for the population for which it is intended.
In addition, the Advisory Committee is kept abreast of Family Planning program data, projects. If you would like further information, contact our Family Planning Coordinator at (208) 737-5971.
