Family Planning Update
The Idaho Department of Health & Welfare announced the release of an RFQ to provide Title X family planning services to seven counties in south central Idaho. Closing date for the RFQ is 10.31.2014.
As noted in a press release dated 10.01.2014, Blaine County Commissioner Angenie McCleary organized a conference call between South Central Public Health District, community partners, and service providers. The call was exploratory, but productive.
The community partners and service providers on the conference call indicated they have many of the same logistical and human resource related problems as SCPHD. Most significantly there is a shortage of clinical specialists available to provide family planning and reproductive health services.
Currently SCPHD, community partners, and service providers are still discussing short term options for residents seeking services previously provided under Title X services by SCPHD in Minidoka, Lincoln, Jerome, Gooding, Cassia, Camas, and Blaine counties.
Please view the links below for more information and providers available in your area.
SCPHD will continue to update our former clients as new information becomes available.
Family Planning Clinics Closing
It is with great sadness that South Central Public Health District (SCPHD) must close our family planning clinics. Our last day to provide supplies in Bellevue, Burley, and Jerome will be September 30, 2014. After this date, you must find another provider to meet your reproductive health needs.
SCPHD will be available to transfer records to your healthcare provider of choice.
Statement from Idaho Department of Health and Welfare
"The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is working with federal partners who provide the grant funding for the family planning services to find a solution to continue services in south central Idaho. The Department of Health and Welfare will provide further information as a resolution develops. During the interim, families needing services should contact their local healthcare provider to discuss possible options."
*SCPHD will post more information on family planning clinics as it becomes available.
